I've only been a pressman with just under a years experience and two weeks training before they threw me on night shift by myself with zero help....So, when I started, I ran at 900 ft/min @ 40 lbs of tension at the splicer and rewind, someone on day shift did something and now I can only run at 850 ft/min @ 25 lbs of tension. when I start up the web moves over about 1/4 inch and on sht down it moves back over to the left, when I clean my blankets I have to reduce the tension to 15 lbs otherwise my web wrinkles coming through the splicer and generally breaks on the carriage or the auto guide. Currently the pressure on the auto guide is set to 67 for some reason....If I try to run anything over 25 lbs, it wrinkles and breaks my web....I've seen this happen on the slitting machines when the unwind is too unlevel, except it don't break the web, just wanders and wrinkles. My theory is that the splice rollers are work and causing the paper to wander in the back...Really my press needs a good cleaning and overhaul but we neither have the time nor the money to accomplish such a feat. Figured there's gotta be some work around to get past this issue, like a temporary fix or something.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33134200.post-23546419923297857812023-07-05T13:42:16.761-07:002023-07-05T13:42:16.761-07:00Printer fit 15 years, 4-coler plus metallic and po...Printer fit 15 years, 4-coler plus metallic and powder. COPD, heart issues, asthma, infections, skin disorders (including skin cancer) we often wondered if his 47 yrs in printing isn't responsible. Lawsuit? The main issue if that whenever we do a straight run, one of the papers comes out with a good offset lip, and the other one comes out either with no lip or a very tiny one. The problem is exacerbated because the supervisor doesn't want to admit he doesn't know how to fix it. This lip is need in order for the other department to be able to insert advertising into the paper. Without a lip the inserter won't be able to open every other pape. Any help would be much appreciated.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33134200.post-78645068419134716662023-02-22T18:39:09.002-08:002023-02-22T18:39:09.002-08:00That’s such a wonderful question! My husband has been a pressman for over 34 years and is beginning to have some of the symptoms of the illnesses that you mentioned in your post. A class action lawsuit sounds like a good idea, but honestly I wouldn’t know where to begin. Publicity about the effects and COPD could bring together other pressmen who may be suffering as you are. The best of luck to you, and may God Support and Bless you.
